Events surrounding the annual Kojo celebration in Accompong, Jamaica by the Maroons, descendants of Africans brought to Jamaica by the Spanish in the 17th century. The singing, dancing, and festivities commemorate the ancestral leader Kojo and his victory over the British in 1738-39.
